Boating and Fishing Solo

Lots of fish were biting this day. I am starting to enjoy boating and fishing solo. It can be pretty peaceful but its still nice when I have someone to go with.  I really love it when the water is smooth as glass. There probably isn’t too many more good weather days to fish this year so I am trying to soak it all up as often as possible.

I was casting with one of my favorite lures. I would have liked to pull in the fish that the scale above belonged to. O-well it was fun at least tugging on him for a moment. Maybe i will get it in the boat next time.

I caught several small cats and sheephead as usual. I wish I could figure out how to catch some walleye. Guess i just have to keep trying different spots. The spot I was fishing here is only 4 - 6 feet deep and I know that its not likely for walleye to be in the shallows this time of year.

Stinky Head

Just another Stinky SheepHead. So many of these I dont know what to write about them. Guess i will have to try and remember more details when i catch them. Either that or just stop taking pictures of them. I think i need to research a bait that sheep head dont like and other fish do.

Sheephead Trash Fish

Sheephead are called “trash fish” for a reason, they aren’t for eating. The only thing i have heard good about them is to put them into a grinder and freeze them and tie the frozen bad of ground up sheep head to a boat or pier as chum.

Another Sheephead Swallowed The Hook

Just another picture of a sheephead that swallowed the hook. I snipped the line off as close to its lips. I think the hook will come out naturally. I will have to be buying some more hooks if these sheep head dont stop biting.

I caught a couple others that i didn’t take pictures of but they were all the same kinds of fish. Didn’t catch anything really good or big but it was fun catching the fish i did catch.

Fishing Last Night

I did get go go out fishing last night. On the way to the pit got stuck in the mud and my truck got pretty dirty. Someone blocked the path to the usual fishing spot so we had to find another place to put the poles in the water. The only place we found the current was too strong to expect any good luck with catching anything.

Sheep Head Jason Caught

Sheep Head Jason Caught

Jason did catch the sheep head in the picture above. The lighted bobbers didn’t seem to be much of a help with the current. Had a good time out and slept pretty good once i was able to lay in bed.
