Today I decided to give up on putting the boat in the water any more until after winter. I guess because I am not expecting it to warm up enough for me to get out there in the cold. not even sure that the river wont start freezing up within the next couple weeks anyway. I might try to bundle up and cast a little in the pit from land and keep myself close to a truck that can quickly warm me up. I don’t want to imagine what it would be like to be in the boat and have the motor not start. Burrrrr
Its too dark to add any Pix.
Maybe I will take some tomorrow when I take the motor off.

I snagged this big carp / buffalo while trolling in the pit. it is a pretty sloppy and nasty fish but it was alot of fun to bring in. It pulled the boat around alot and was fun to net. Would have been nice if it had been a walleye but i guess thats just too much to ask for.

Mom finally went out on the boat with me. The river was a little choppy because the wind was coming and going but the boat was pretty stable. She seemed to enjoy herself.
I was hoping to show her the Eagles that have been flying around the river but they must have been hiding. I did show her the eagles nest but there weren’t any eagles in it. I have watched the eagles fly around several times.
She had never seen the houses with riverfront property from the perspective of the river so that was interesting to her. I have a dream to someday have one of the houses on the river. I think it would be pretty awesome to put some poles out in the morning and sit behind my computer looking out a window at my poles.

Since I have been boating I have wanted a trolling motor. For convenience and for safety. My grandma had mentioned that she had an old one in her basment that I was welcome to check out and see if it still worked. All it needed was a 12 volt battery and it was alive.
I was very surprised with how the little trolling motor was able to move the boat. It actually cruised around without any trouble as long as i wasn’t trying to use it in the river and fight the current. I played with it for several hours the first day i had it in the water.
What I like most about trolling is being able to stand on the front of the boat and slowly jig and cast and be able to cover more water. I have found that it is very useful when the fish are not biting in the area I start to fish. Before having the trolling motor i would have to pull up anchor and try to start the gas motor. Now i almost never use an anchor i just float around and when I get in a shallow area or too close to shore or a tree I can just slowly move out of the way.
Trolling disturbs the water a lot less and I think it greatly increases the chances of not scaring away the fish.

This picture is of my boat shortly after i finished installing the seats. They make the boat a lot more comfortable especially when spending several hours on the river. Now that i have used the seats several times i don’t think I would ever want to go fishing in a boat with standard benches. The seats make it so much easier for me and 1 passenger.

I finally am back trying to get some posts written. I have more then 100 pix I would like to publish for all of the readers of huntpix.com. I am sorry about neglecting the site and not posting as often as I should have. I have been busy with many things and huntpix.com just hasn’t been my priority.
I have done a lot of fishing and i have several pix of fish my boat and some modifications i have made to the boat. I have also been experimenting with some different lures and good stuff like that.
I hope everyone will start sharing the site with others and posting comments again. I would really love it if someone out there wanted to make a post. Just let me know and i can walk ya through getting your post made here.

Doug has gone fishing with me a couple times now. I think he is starting to enjoy fishing. There are some pictures I wanted to post of the first time Doug and i went out in the boat but they seem to have been lost.
I don’t think most people understand what it really means to go fishing its something that needs to be learned. Fishing is kind of an acquired taste but once someone tastes it they cant get enough.

Lots of fish were biting this day. I am starting to enjoy boating and fishing solo. It can be pretty peaceful but its still nice when I have someone to go with. I really love it when the water is smooth as glass. There probably isn’t too many more good weather days to fish this year so I am trying to soak it all up as often as possible.

I was casting with one of my favorite lures. I would have liked to pull in the fish that the scale above belonged to. O-well it was fun at least tugging on him for a moment. Maybe i will get it in the boat next time.

I caught several small cats and sheephead as usual. I wish I could figure out how to catch some walleye. Guess i just have to keep trying different spots. The spot I was fishing here is only 4 - 6 feet deep and I know that its not likely for walleye to be in the shallows this time of year.

I am preparing the boat to go out again. Doug decided he was willing to go out in the boat with me after he finished with his eBay stuff. So These pictures are of me taking the boat to get gas and bait so that as soon as he finished we could head out.
We had a good time once we got out and the boat ran great. it did get dark pretty quick and my camera didn’t take good pix in the dark.
I asked doug to send me the pix he took while we were out. After he sends them to me i will get them published for all of you loyal viewers to view.
